You know it. You love it. Put on DP4 and you'll be feelin' groovy.

Although I do think they chopped it up too much. Splitting DS and The Other One is a sin. Either Dick Latvala himself or someone in the GD organization was resisting the whole show concept during the early DPs - they never did fully embrace it. Although, I understand that Smokestack was out on Bear's Choice, and a number of songs were repeated the second night, and maybe they picked the better versions. I would have released a four CD set like this:

1. 2/13: (E1) China>Rider, MAMU, Dire Wolf (A) Monkey & Engineer, Sadie, Wake Up Little Susie, Black Peter, Uncle John's, Katie Mae

2. 2/13: (E2) Dark Star > That's It for the Other One

3. 2/13: (E2) Lovelight; 2/14: (E1) Casey Jones, Mama Tried (E2) Dancin, China>Rider, High Time

4. 2/14: (E2) Alligator>Drums>MAMU>Not Fade>Mason's Children>Caution>Goodnight

That would have avoided any repeats except China>Rider and MAMU, which is different in context of the big jam on 2/14. I don't mind a second China>Rider! Also, it would create four full CDs without including anything that was released on Bear's Choice. Most importantly, it would have put the split in the 2/13 monster set at Lovelight, keeping Dark Star and That's It for the Other One on one CD.

What the hey, it's got the most important parts. Pop'm in and enjoy!

It's my own personal holiday. Best feelin' groovy jam ever - it comes on so naturally and organically, not forced like some versions (it always felt forced on 9/19 to me, for example).

The energy flowing through this Dark Star is remarkable. I don't care if it's not your favorite, but I don't think it's deniable that there is a brooding intensity to this one that has its own unique flair.

Pretty good pipe-dream , that agree with . I Imagine it was pulling teeth to expand the DPs series from 2 cds . It is almost a shame that they didn't put this out later in the run, when the 4 cd set was ok . And because it is out, I guess they will ot do a box set of the 2 night complete . Maybe, if they sort out the "early show" issues , they could put the remaining unissued material someway maybe as a RT ?
By the by, has anyone seen any evidence of future releases ? It seemed like they were really pumping them out last year ! I wonder how the Rhino collapse is going to figure in all this ?
